How it all began
My pony called Teddy triggered the idea of horse guard. He was always trying to escape his field space to get to the grass on the other side. He would push on the fence rails or push through the electric fencing. I thought that a device that would deter him away from the fencing would be a great help, but I could not find anything.
I’ve been working with the idea since 2018. I initially started with an innovation company who helped me to get to the point of a prototype design. The concept was successful with testing it out on my ponies.
I was then extremely fortunate to meet a factory owner, who showed an interest in the idea in 2021. He had off-the-shelf components ready to produce further prototypes. I asked other horse owners if they would be interested to try Horse Guard on their horses. The results were extremely encouraging and owners began purchasing the device.
Horse Guard was proving to keep their ponies safe and preventing them from escaping their paddocks.
